NRECA Youth Tour to Washington, D.C.

Interested in an all-expenses paid trip to Washington, D.C.? Have you ever wondered what you would say to your Senator or member of congress if you had the chance? How about watching the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier or sailing down the Potomac River?

The annual Youth Tour to Washington, D.C. is sponsored by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) and brings hundreds of high school juniors and seniors to our nation’s capital each year for an exciting week of educational activities, tours and fun.

Peoples’ Energy Cooperative sponsors one student from a high school serving families in our six-county service territory.  The student is chosen during an annual contest coordinated by the Cooperative’s Member Relations Department. Entries are evaluated for: completeness, composition, neatness, ability to communicate, and school and community activities. Applicants will be notified in late March on the status of their application.

The 2017 Youth Tour will take place June 10-15.  Last year's tour information is shown below for reference.  Applications are due March 10, 2017.

To learn more about the Youth Tour visit or call the Cooperative office at 507-367-7000 or 800-214-2694 and ask for Gwen.
